Defne Feed for Hogget

• In hogget sheds, room temperature should be between 5 and 25 ⁰C and humidity should be under 70%. No ammonia odor should be felt inside sheds.
• Ammonia concentration should be below 25 ppm and carbon dioxide concentration should be below 2500 ppm. Well ventilation should be ensured in sheds without air flow (wind).
• Air flow (wind) should be below 2 meter/sec (wind should be below 7.2 km/hr).
• Ventilation rate in sheds should be 45 m3/hr in summer and 70 m3/hr per animal in winter.
• Sheds should be illuminated for more than 8 hours above 100 lux per day (light-daylight allowing reading newspaper easily with normal reading distance).
• 1.0- 1.2 m2 area should be provided for per animal.
• The length of feed dispensers should be 45-60 cm, height of upper part of feed dispensers should be 30-40 cm above the ground. The length of water dispensers should be 4-4,5 cm. Height of upper part of water dispensers should be 40 cm above the ground.
• The distance between feed dispensers and water dispensers should be 25-30 meter. Daily water need of hogget is about 2-8 liters (averagely 3-5 liters).
• Cleaning of the water dispensers should be easy and should be made of stainless material.
• The water dispensers should be placed in such a way that they do not wet the places where the hogget lie.
• To achieve an optimum fattening performance, internal and external parasite medicine, and vaccines against the diseases of enterotoxemia and infectious necrozing hepatitis (liver disease vaccine) should be applied to hogget before fattening process.

Usage

• Defne Feed for Hogget should be made available for 24 hours after the age of 5-5.5-month until they are sent for slaughtering.
• High quality straw in the amount of 100-200 gram should be fed per day to hogget until they are sent for slaughtering.
• Technical support related to proper care giving and feeding depending on animals’ needs from our regional sales managers will be helpful for you.
• There is no need for another supplement.
• Water dispensers should be cleaned once a day.
• Animals should have access to high quality, clean and fresh water for 24 hours.
