Description

Well-ventilation should be ensured in barns without air flow (wind). Wind speed in barns should be kept under 2 m per second.
1.4 m2 area should be provided for per animal.
The length of feed dispensers should be 45-60 cm, height of upper part of feed dispensers should be 30-40 cm above the ground. The length of water dispensers should be 4-4,5 cm.
Cleaning of the water dispensers should be easy and should be made of stainless material. The water dispensers should be placed in such a way that they do not wet the places where the hogget lie.
A sheep yard should have an area of two-fold of the area of the barn. Height of fences surrounding the yard should be 1 meter.

Menekşe Feed for Dairy Sheep has been so designed that it is used during milking period.
It should be continued to be fed by gradually increasing it at the beginning of grazing period when sheep go for grazing.
Sheep should be fed with some hay and straw in barn before going for grazing during periods in which excessive frost and dew exist on pastures.
Sheep, immediately after birth, should be provided with approximately 700 g of Menekşe Feed for Dairy Sheep in case of singular birth and 1 kg in case of twin birth.
Rest of the requirement is satisfied by high quality meadow grass or it is mixed with dry alfalfa in half. Dairy sheep produce 40-50% of the milk that they produce during the relevant lactation period in the first 4 weeks after birth.
When milk yield is reduced, amount of this feed is also reduced. Daily amount may be reduced to 100-200 grams.
Poor quality coarse feeds like hay should not be given especially in the first 8 months after birth.
If corn silage is fed, it is increased gradually up to 1.5-2 kg after birth.
Alfalfa or meadow grass amount is increased up to 0.5-0.75 kg with corn silage.
